Curcumin Can Help Lower Blood Sugar in Just 12 Weeks.
A 2025 double-blind, placebo-controlled trial by Lamichhane et al. in Nutrients found that elderly prediabetic adults taking 80 mg/day of curcumin for 12 weeks saw significant reductions in HbA1c, a key marker of long-term blood sugar control.
The curcumin group also experienced modest improvements in gut microbiota—slightly increased levels of Bacteroides, Roseburia, and other beneficial bacteria—though overall diversity didn’t change significantly. No other metabolic or body composition changes were observed, suggesting curcumin’s primary impact was on glycemic control and gut health.
If you’re prediabetic, consider daily low-dose curcumin as part of your strategy—paired with healthy eating, movement, and gut-friendly foods to support blood sugar and metabolic resilience.
