Just One Minute of Exercise Has Major Health Benefits.

A 2023 summary from Georgia State University and the Society of Behavioral Medicine shows that micro-workouts—short bursts of physical activity lasting from 30 seconds to 10 minutes—can have major benefits for heart health, blood sugar control, mental well-being, and overall endurance. Whether it’s one minute of high-intensity squats or three brisk 10-minute walks per week, these small sessions are far more powerful than previously thought.

For people with busy schedules, physical limitations, or low motivation, long gym sessions often feel out of reach. But research shows that stacking short, purposeful movements throughout your day can improve insulin sensitivity, reduce blood pressure, increase cardiovascular endurance, and even enhance mental clarity and mood. And unlike long workouts, micro-sessions are easier to build into routines and stick with long-term.

Instead of skipping exercise because of time, seize short moments: a minute of jumping jacks between meetings, a walk around the block after dinner, or a stair climb break. These micro-movements are the building blocks of lasting fitness.
