Vitamin B1 May Ease Alcohol-Related Headaches.
In 2025, Kuan-Hung Lin and team from Taipei Medical University studied 60 adults with frequent alcohol-related headaches. In a 4-week trial, half got 100 mg daily vitamin B1 (thiamine), while others received a placebo. They measured headache frequency, blood flow via ultrasound, and brain cell health through blood markers, adjusting for alcohol intake and age.
ER Visits from Alcohol Are Skyrocketing.
A 2025 study in American Journal of Epidemiology found that 100% alcohol-attributable emergency department visits increased by 139% between 1993–94 and 2019–21—compared to just a 28% rise in overall ER visits.

A 2015 prospective cohort study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition followed 259 women and found that those who drank more than one drink per day had a 49% increased risk of heavy menstrual bleeding.

A 2025 randomized trial by Kreimeyer et al., published in Nutrients, found that mixed and wheat varieties raised fasting glucose, insulin markers, and triglycerides, while pilsner performed similarly to water—reducing cholesterol and LDL, and lowering liver injury markers.
