96 Toxic Chemicals Found in Nearly Every Toddler.
A 2025 study by UC Davis (using NIH’s ECHO data) analyzed 201 toddlers (ages 2–4) from four U.S. states and found 96 different chemicals in their urine—48 found in over half of the kids, 34 in more than 90%—many not even tracked by national surveys. These include hormone-disrupting phthalates, parabens, bisphenols, flame retardants, and modern pesticides.
The youngest and later-born kids often had higher levels than their mothers did during pregnancy. Even legacy toxins like triclosan are declining, but “safer” plastic chemicals like DINCH and newer pesticides are becoming alarmingly common.
Clean up your toddler’s world: go fragrance-free, avoid plastics, wash produce often, ventilate your home, and choose organic.
